Bowling Pine

This is my inspiration piece for Tuesday Throwdown's Challenge...

"Team Spirit" Show us your team image, colors, etc.

I am on a bowling team. My handicap is 101, but it's going down every week. I have only been bowling a month or so, and need to get my own ball...maybe this week...

The paper is from my stash. It's actually the cover image from the paper, but I thought it would make a great collage for the tree. The bow on top of the tree is actually a ribbon flower. I cut off the green ribbon leaves. I used Stickles to make the garland. The "balls" are buttons from my sewing basket. I cut the pins out of the scraps from the template.

Speaking of the template, It's from our sponsor this week:

The random winner of the challenge will choose two free templates!

Christmas Countdown!

Well almost...I just realized it's less than two months 'til Christmas! Time to make cards for that holiday!

This one is for the challenge at Come And Get It. Here's the sketch...I stretched it to the limit, but you CAN see some similarities...like the ribbon down the middle.
View Shell's sketch.jpg in slide show

The image is from Digital Delights. The paper is from the stash at the Card Club I attend. I am learning to use more die cuts,so the trees in the distance and the snowflakes are my newest attempt. I love them both!

There is so much to learn and to share. I love doing both at Card Club. Getting together in the flesh is fun.

The Challenges I am entering with this card are:
1.  52 Christmas Card Throwdown - Embellishments, diecuts/punches
4.  Clearly IStamp - Ribbon/Twine

Be sure to enter the challenge at Come And Get It. You can use any stamps, just use the sketch.

Have fun,
Bev

Thankful Big Time!

My Time Made Easy's Pretty Patterns Challenge is why I created this card. I am on the Design Team and absolutely love playing with the digital images and papers. There are also packaging patterns of all sorts for you to easily make gorgeous gifts and decor items!

I used this Thankful before, but this time I resized the image to super size it.

The background is made with a Darice folder, and CTMH cardstock, which I lightly sanded. The border is made with a Martha Stewart punch, and the acorns, also from the MTME stamp set, are coated in Stickles. I sewed with my Singer, and used CTMH ribbon which is almost gone...I love black gingham ribbon, as you can see if you look through my older posts.
The pearls are from Hobby Lobby.

Challenges I am entering with this card are-

Be sure to visit My Time Made Easy. So much fun...and so easy!

Pretty Potted Plant

Love this cutie from Digital Delights. You can see more inspiration using Wendy's creations here.

I worked on this card at the Card Club I started attending. Everyone thought it was adorable! Keep up the cuties, Wendy!

I used Prismacolor Pencils, and mineral spirits to color the image. The papers are from the club stash.

Stickles in gold, ribbon from Hobby Lobby, dimensionals and the out of the box technique were also used. I bent the flower petals a bit, giving it depth, and used a Martha Stewart punch at the card club meeting to make the lacey border. Then there are the clouds made with my "vintage" CTMH cloud stencil and chalks.

The Challenges I am entering with this card are:
1.  Crafts and Me - Fantasy Creatures
2.  Stamp N Doodle - Ribbon/Twine
3. Whimsy Inspiration - Sparkly
4. Word Art Wednesday - Must Use Uplifting Sentiment/Anything goes
5.  A and T Emerald Faeries - Anything Goes

Pumpkin Face and Prismacolor Pencil Tutorial

I have been asked several times to do a tutorial sharing my shading with color technique, so here it is!

First however, please allow me to share with you the beautiful site where I received this image. It's called, Digital 2 For Tuesday. Cora does an amazing job with these images she scouts out. I hope you find a few moments to visit and use some of the FREE images she finds.

And now...the TUTORIAL.
To do the coloring, I will use colored pencils and mineral spirits. First, I use my Prismacolor Pencils to lightly color in the images. You don't want to use much pressure, so you don't flatten the tooth of the paper.

Next, I use a red or crimson pencil to shade. Again, tread lightly with the pencil. In total, I will use two pencils to shade: first the red, then the blue.**Tip:  I use these instead of a grey or black, as the color gives more depth and "life" to the images.

Here is the blue added. Use a dark blue, such as Cerulean.

Now that I have them shaded, I will use mineral spirits and a paper nub to bring out the color and get rid of the coloring lines.

This is the fun part! Simply dip the  paper nub into the ms and color in circles over the separate parts of your image. Watch the color become simply brilliant!

At this point, I can see where I need to add more base color. I add the orange, green, etc and use more spirits to blend.

Here is the finished card.
I think I'll enter this in some challenges!
2.  Crafty Creations - Spooks
3.  Creative Belli Blog - Halloween (gold glitter I never use!)
15. Sassy Cheryl's Digi's - Trick or Treat Time
16. Tip Top Tuesday - halloween (**Tip: use color to shade instead of black or grey, to make your image more brilliant) See above tutorial.

I hope this is helpful. Please email me if you have any questions about this tutorial. Oh! and check my past posts for more examples of this technique... I use it alot!

Stay creative,
...Bev

Jeffy's Halloween Card

Jeffy, my grandson, loves Sock Monkeys. This Bugaboo image is perfect!  Come and Get It Challenges is having a Halloween Challenge this week, and being on the Design Team, I am privileged to represent Bugaboo and Come And Get It.

I attended a Card Club in my community yesterday, and made this card while I was there. I got to use some really fun die cuts. Maria was so helpful. Next week she is going to bring some flourishes for me to try.
I used Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits to color my monkey. I used the "Out of the Box" technique, and used one of Maria's dies to make the black frame. The background is done with die cut pumpkins glued to the same color card stock. I used Stickles on the pumpkin bucket and the monkey's smile and eyepatch. The brads are from the Card Club's stash. The ribbon is CTMH.

I am entering this guy in some challenges:
Inside, the card says this. I gotta get my grandkids' cards in the mail. I have four and one on the way!
Enjoy the Halloween Holiday, and don't eat too much healthy food (bet you thought I was going to say candy, huh? Well, you can never eat too much candy on Halloween!)

Nice Legs

People always tell me I have nice legs. I tell them they're my mother's. This witch's mom is Gingerloft. I used it, along with the colors from the Come And Get It Challenge to make this card.

The paper is from My Time Made Easy. The Ribbon is Hobby Lobby. So are the Gems. The sentiment is from Digital Delights. and I sewed the sentiment on and the legs, with my Singer and some heavy duty thread. The background is chalked and I used Distress Ink by Ranger
to ink up the edges of virtually everything.

I also used Stickles.

Have a fun day, and stay well. George is getting there.

Hugs,
Bev
